RIGA DEMOCRATIC COMMITTEE
A Better Choice for Riga
Our current officers are Bek Walther, Leader; Bernie Tomasso, Secretary and Treasurer.
We will continue to have all our meetings via Google Meet for the foreseeable future. If you would like a link to our meeting contact: rigademocrats@gmail.com
The year 2023 was busy for us. We were part of the Churchville Walkabout in the summer and had a free drawing for a free New York State flag donated by our NY Assemblyman, Harry Bronson. We had our annual summer picnic at our August meeting under the wisteria arbor at the Loser's house. In September, 2022 we had our annual fund raising dinner and silent auction at Mill Creek Golf Club in the open air wedding tent. Stan Main did a stand-up political comedy routine.
Currently in 2024 we have completed the Designation process where candidates contact us and the committee interviews them. We then vote on that candidate and send in the Designation to County Headquarters at the Monroe County Democratic Committee on University Ave. This is the start of the process to put your name on the November ballot. The next step is getting enough signatures on our assigned petitions to get the candidates name on the ballot. We have now almost completed petitioning.
If the Churchville Riga Chamber of Commerce has a Walkabout this summer, look for us there.
We will be having our annual fund-raising dinner and Silent Auction at Mill Creek on September 12th, this year. If our flyer is posted here, check it out. Tickets can be purchased through the flyer online. We gladly take items donated to the Silent Auction. Click the Pop-out (box with up arrow) below for the full Dinner Flyer.
We represent the registered Democrats of Riga - over 900 of us. Our job is to provide the best local candidates for office and to help them get elected. By having a choice when you vote, we help keep local politics clean, honest, open, and diversified.
Any registered Democrat living or owning property in Riga is welcome!
We need your help and your ideas! It's free! It's fun! Just do what you can!

Our Meeting Locations
Check for our meeting location on this website every month as conditions change. We are currently meeting the first Wednesday of each month via Google Meet or in one of the Churchville parks. Our next meeting will be on April 9, 2025 at 7 pm on Google Meet. Contact us at rigademocrats@gmail.com for details. Any Democrat may attend the meeting. Please email us for a link.
In July and August we meet in Churchville Park on N. Main Street near the East & West Lodges at 7 pm. In case of rain we use the breezeway between the 2 Lodges.
We are always hoping for more members to join the Riga Democratic Committee. It is a good way to do your civic duty and meet folks, and potentially start your political career!
